At last, most of our farms are feeling the benefits of PCV2 vaccine! Our weanto- finish datasets support industry-wide observations that the vaccines are highly effective when given very early in the pig’s life.
At right is a client’s production system data pre- and postvaccine implementation. Note the dramatic reduction in mortality between weeks 11 and 20, post-weaning (enclosed circle). Average daily gain and feed to gain ratios are dramatically changed as well. Depending upon which data I look at, I see between $4 and $14 per head impact from the vaccine.
